Overview

Building on the Husky 1 works, TES delivered the electrical installation for the Husky 2 line at the Coca-Cola CCBU Rwenzori plant — again as electrical sub-contractor to main contractor EMFLO Development Services. The line reached practical completion on 20 November 2024, with completion certification signed on 30 December 2024.

The scope extended the plant’s LV substation to serve Husky 1 and Husky 2 together, with new generation, distribution and automatic transfer built in.

The Husky 2 low-voltage switchboard, extending the plant substation across both lines.

Generation, distribution & transfer

TES installed Generator 2 with its synchronising panel, an APFC 2 power-factor bank, a splitter/distributor panel and Main Distribution Panel 2, together with an automatic transfer switch so the line moves between mains and on-site generation without interruption.

DSE 8610 controllers were configured to isolate the mains from on-site generation, hand over seamlessly to the Husky 2 setup, and load-balance so a single generator can carry the plant under low-load conditions.

Cabling & busbars

All MV and LV cabling was laid, terminated and tested, with phase-coded conductors lugged onto busbars and labelled input-to-output for a clean, traceable handover. Power was taken out to the Preform Molds, the SACMI machine, the resin dryer and the compressors.

Commissioning & handover

Insulation-resistance and continuity testing, generator setup and transfer proving were completed before energising. EMFLO affirmed the subcontracted scope as completed and tested to standard, and the installation was handed over under a one-year guarantee running to 20 November 2025.

“Transients Engineering Services carried out the scope of electrical works subcontracted to it, completed and tested to standard as per the electrical drawings.”
